Come Waltz in July!
AVMAD is committed to offering two instructional dance series each year.

MONDAYS, JULY 6TH, 13TH, 20TH, 27TH
Lesson: 7:15-8:45pm / Open Dancing: 8:45-9:45pm
at the Salida Scout Hut in Riverside Park

For over 250 years, waltz has been a favorite of dancers around the world. In waltz, you get to embrace your partner and glide around the room with walking (and whirling) steps.

For four Mondays starting July 6th at the Salida Scout Hut, Kimball Edell will be teaching a casual, folk waltz that encourages creativity and fun. Kimball Edell has been dancing and teaching waltz on the Front Range for over 15 years and is excited to teach in our area this summer! What he loves most about waltzing is sharing that smooth motion with a partner. Geared towards beginners, this class will also offer the intermediate dancer fun new moves and skills to refine and smooth out your waltzing! Kimball's lessons feature lots of practice to cement the class knowledge. Regular partner rotation plus responding to what the group needs makes every class different.

Cost is only $35 for 4 weeks or $10/drop-in. Come for just the Open Dancing for $5/person.

The series will culminate July 27th with live music by Rodney Sauer, top-notch Louisville-based pianist who loves to play for dancers.

Twenty people are needed to make this series happen. Sign up and pay for the series by showing up early the first night.

Salida & Leadville Community Contra Dances
AVMAD is committed to offering contra dances in Salida & Leadville.
What is community dancing?

Come one, Come all! These fun gatherings always include live music and calling that is sure to make you feel welcome and get your feet stomping. All dances are taught and called, so no experience is necessary. Also, since we often change partners during or after a dance, you can come alone or with a big group. Dances are typically held the 3rd weekend of the month. See schedule below for more details and the few exceptions (ie: the Halloween Dance)

SALIDA DANCES
Held 3rd Saturdays (except June) at the Salida Scout Hut in Riverside Park from 7pm - 10pm. Bring your kids at the beginning for easier dances especially for families! Slightly harder dances after the break.  Bring a yummy treat for the dessert potluck. Adults: $6 / Youth: $3. Dances are co-sponsored by Salida Recreation.

LEADVILLE DANCES
Held at St. George's Episcopal Church (200 W 4th) from 7pm - 9:30pm on the last Saturday of select months - see calendar below. Bring a yummy treat for the dessert potluck. Cost: $5 / person
